Now that TunnelBear is owned by a giant American cybersecurity company, it’s difficult to tell what the future will hold. According to its website, TunnelBear is still being operated out of Canada, even though it is now owned by a US company.
Strong encryption
TunnelBear had an excellent showing in this round of testing, actually improving speeds—a rare feat. But in my overall examination of VPNs, I've seen more pronounced improvements. PureVPN has, for two years running, been the fastest VPN when testing on Windows. In the domestic test, it sped up downloads by over 300 percent, and over 400 percent in the international test. That's a hard act to follow, but it's noteworthy it wasn't able to repeat this performance on macOS. For now, TunnelBear is on the top of the Mac VPN heap.

I was impressed with their improved customer service and the new ability to torrent. They took many of our major complaints and corrected them.
